Paul Butler of Gaffney, SC
10.4.2010 -- For Immediate Release

On a cool and breezy day, Paul Butler of Gaffney, SC won the last regular season Carolina Mountain Tour event of 2010. After getting off to a slow start, Paul managed to shoot even par on the front side after carding two early bogeys. He took that momentum into the back side carding three more birdies to shoot a two-under par round of 70. Second place went to former Big Break contestant and Mountain Tour regular, Kevan Maxwell. He carded a solid round of one-over par, 73. Third place went to Mike Blankenship and Stefan Van Der Merwe, both shooting three-over par 75's.

The Mountain Tour would also like to thank its first female contestant, Stephanie Simich, for participating. We wish her much success as she will be working her way towards exempt status on the Duramed Futures Tour. We would like to also extend an open invitation to any other females that would like to participate on the Mountain Tour.

Blake Palmer of Dawsonville, GA
9.21.2010  - For Immediate Release

At the Carolina Mountain Tour Championship, Blake Palmer made a strong statement on the back nine as he went on to win. On Monday, he kept himself within reach of Daniel Bowden (First Round Leader) after his one-under par round of 71. On Tuesday, while playing in the final pairing with Bowden and Dustin Adair, Palmer managed to shoot an outstanding five-under par 67, including a 32 on the closing 9-holes to capture the tour's first two-day Tour Championship! With the win, Palmer solidifies his standing as the tour's leading money winner and the Carolina Mountain Tour "Player of the Year."

Second place went to former Georgia Tech and Furman University golfer, Daniel Bowden of Easley, SC. Bowden, playing in just his second professional event, managed to grab the first round lead and was just one shot short of the title. The 2009 Mountain Tour Player of the Year, Phil Nickell, of Hendersonville, NC fired a 73 in the first round and started the second round by holing out from the fairway for an eagle on the par-4 first hole. He would capitalize from his good start by finishing the day with a two-under par 70 to finish alone in Third place.
